1967 – Winners of the ninth annual Grammy Awards for 1966 are announced. Song of the Year is John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s “Michelle.”

1968 – Simon & Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair” is released. It will be featured prominently in the movie “The Graduate,” starring Dustin Hoffman.

1988 – In Grammy news: U2’s “The Joshua Tree” wins Best Album, while Paul Simon’s “Graceland” wins Best Record.

1999 – Bob Dylan is the opening performer at the House Of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. During the encore, Dylan performs with U2’s Bono for a rousing rendition of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.”
