1965 – “Just A Little” by the Beau Brummels becomes a Top Ten hit. It is the second biggest single from the San Francisco band.

1966 – Simon and Garfunkel’s “I Am a Rock” enters the Hot 100 — the folk-pop duo’s third chart entry. In its eleven weeks on the chart, it will peak at #3.

1968 – Reginald Dwight decides to change his name to Elton John.

1972 – The Rolling Stones release the second album on their own label, “Exile on Main Street.”

1973 – George Harrison releases “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)” which will become his second Number One single. It’s the first release from “Living in the Material World,” his second Number One LP.

1978 – The 90,000 tickets on sale for Bob Dylan’s upcoming concerts at London’s Wembley Empire Pool sell out in less than eight hours.

2002 – The Stones arrive by blimp at New York’s Van Cortland Park to announce their 2002/2003 world tour.

2002 – Carole King guests on the TV show, “Gilmore Girls” (for which she also sings the opening song).
