1963 – The Beatles’ first U.S. album, “Introducing The Beatles” is released by Vee-Jay.

1966 – The Grateful Dead’s first single, “Stealin’” b/w “Don’t Ease Me In,” is released on the Scorpio label.

1971 – 13 days after lead singer Jim Morrison passes on, the Doors are awarded a gold album for “L.A. Woman.”

1997 – Elton John and Sting are among the mourners at designer Gianni Versace’s funeral in Milan, Italy. Versace was murdered the previous week in front of his Miami Beach home. Elton and Sting sing an arrangement of Psalm 23.
