1961 – A customer asks Liverpool record store clerk Brian Epstein for a copy of “My Bonnie” by a local group. Curious, he searches, finds and eventually becomes the manager for this local group, which happens to be The Beatles.

1972 – The United States Council for World Affairs announces that it’s adopting the Who song, “Join Together” as its official theme.

1972 – Arlo Guthrie hits #18 with “The City of New Orleans,” a song written by Steve Goodman.

1972 – Emerson, Lake & Palmer reach #39 with their single from the “Trilogy” album, “From the Beginning.”

1997 – Drummer Bill Berry announces that he is leaving R.E.M. after being with the group for 17 years.
