1964 – Joan Baez is invited onstage to sing three songs at Bob Dylan’s concert at Philharmonic Hall in New York.

1970 – James Taylor hits #3 with “Fire & Rain.”

1970 – The more acoustic-oriented “Led Zeppelin III” becomes the band’s second Number One album.

1974 – The Rolling Stones’ “It’s Only Rock N’ Roll,” their last album with guitarist Mick Taylor, turns gold. It’s their fourth straight Number One album.

1975 – The Marshall Tucker Band performs at the Fox Theater in Atlanta for a benefit show for presidential candidate and former Georgia governor Jimmy Carter. The president of Capricorn Records, Phil Walden, sponsors this concert and ultimately, many more with his other acts including the Allman Brothers.

1986 – Roger Waters files suit to formally dissolve Pink Floyd, a legal battle that will drag on for years without deterring David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright from recording as Pink Floyd.
