1967 – Reg Dwight (Elton John) and his songwriting partner sign with DJM Publishing. Their signatures had to be witnessed by their parents as they were both under 21 years old.

1970 – Led Zeppelin’s third album (Led Zeppelin III) enters the UK charts at No. 1 and spends a total of 40 weeks in the Top 75.

1973 – The Rolling Stones open their first U.S. tour in three years in Denver, Colorado.

1981 – The Kingston Trio reunite at Magic Mountain in California. The reunion airs as a PBS-TV special three months later.

1988 – John Fogerty wins his self-plagiarism court battle with Fantasy Records. The label claimed Fogerty copied his song, “Run Through The Jungle” when writing “The Old Man Down The Road.”

2016 – Influential singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 82.
