1969 – The “Peace For Christmas” charity concert for UNICEF in London features John Lennon, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Keith Moon.

1976 – The Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour” LP goes gold.

1977 – The Who perform a secret concert for longstanding fan club members and Jeff Stein’s movie cameras at London’s Shepperton Studios. The footage appears in Stein’s “The Kids Are Alright,” his feature-length documentary.

1979 – Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” hits Number One on the U.K. pop chart before subsequently finding similar success in the U.S.

2001 – Joe Walsh is given an honorary Doctorate of Music from Kent State University in Ohio.

2006 – B.B. King is awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by U.S. President George W. Bush at the White House.
