Today in Acoustic-Rock History

1968 – The Miami Festival, the first big rock festival held on the east coast, gets under way in Hallendale, Florida. Tickets go for six and seven dollars and 100,000 people attend the three-day event. Those appearing include Fleetwood Mac, Procol Harum, Joni Mitchell, Three Dog Night, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Canned Heat and the Turtles.

1979 – The Who, Pretenders and others perform at the third of four shows for the people of Kampuchea.

1992 – Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell have a baby, Adrian Edward Simon.
