1965 – The Byrds record “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

1966 – Beatle George Harrison marries his long-time girlfriend, fashion model Patti Boyd. The two met on the set of the Beatles’ first movie, “A Hard Day’s Night.” She leaves Harrison in the mid-’70s to take up with neighbor Eric Clapton, whom she marries in May, 1979. Clapton wrote the song “Layla” about her.

1974 – At the insistence of his son Chip, Jimmy Carter (then governor of Georgia) invites Bob Dylan to a post-concert party at his mansion.

1984 – John Lennon’s “Nobody Told Me,” from the posthumously released “Milk and Honey” album, cracks the Top Forty. It will peak at #5 and be the last of 13 charting singles by Lennon spanning 15 years.

1990 – MTV’s very successful “Unplugged” show makes its debut, with Squeeze as the first performers.
