1965 – As a British R & B band, the Moody Blues hit #1 in the UK with “Go Now.” Two years later, they would transform their sound with the release of “Days of Future Passed,” recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra.

1978 – The Doobie Brothers make the first of two appearances on TV’s “What’s Happening!”

2005 – Legendary Traffic drummer and Hall of Fame inductee Jim Capaldi died at age 60 after a brief fight with stomach cancer.

2009 – Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Billy Powell dies of a heart ailment in Orange Park, Florida at age 56.
