1968 – The Beatles begin recording “The White Album.”

1969 – Beatles release The Ballad Of John and Yoko.

1970 – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s “Déjà Vu” hits the British album chart.

1978 – Led Zeppelin return to the recording studio for first time since the death of Robert Plant’s son the previous July. The sessions will result in the 1979 album “In Through The Out Door.”

1980 – Carl Radle, bass player for Derek and the Dominos and Leon Russell among others, dies of a chronic kidney problem. He was 37 years old.

1980 – Elton John releases “21 at 33,” which reunites him with lyricist Bernie Taupin. The title refers to the fact that it is the 33-year-old’s 21st album.

1992 – Paul Simon marries Edie Brickell.
