1965 – It’s announced that The Beatles will receive MBE awards from Queen Elizabeth in October. This sparks controversy and some previous winners turn in their medals. John Lennon returns his medal in 1969, protesting Britain’s support of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

1968 – A fire breaks out in London’s Olympic Studios where the Rolling Stones are recording their “Beggar’s Banquet” album. No one is injured.

1976 – Santana’s ninth album, “Amigos,” goes gold.

1989 – Joined by new members Warren Haynes (guitar) and Allen Woody (bass), a re-charged Allman Brothers Band hits the road.
