1964 – Madame Tussaud\’s Wax Museum in London announces the Beatles will be cast in wax, the first pop album stars to be so honored.

1967 – Van Morrison records \”Brown Eyed Girl.\”

1969 – Joe Cocker makes his American concert debut, performing at the Fillmore East in New York.

1969 – In London, unrest within the Beatles starts to become apparent. Ringo Starr says the group will make no more public appearances. John Lennon counters that, saying there will be several during the year.

1970 – Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young\’s version of \”Woodstock\” is released. The tribute in song to 1969\’s epic music festival was written by Joni Mitchell.

1976 – Genesis begins its first North American tour since Peter Gabriel left the previous year in Buffalo, New York. Drummer Phil Collins has taken over as lead singer.

1991 – Funeral services are held in England for Eric Clapton\’s son Conor, who fell to his death from a New York City high-rise apartment window. Phil Collins and George Harrison are among those in attendance. Clapton would write \”Tears in Heaven\” as a tribute to his late son.

1996 – Phil Collins announces he is leaving Genesis to concentrate on his solo career.
