1967 – Jimi Hendrix begins his first British tour as part of a package that includes Cat Stevens.

1972 – America’s debut LP, entitled simply “America,” sits atop the Billboard chart.

1982 – The Doobie Brothers announce their break-up, although the band will eventually get back together again to tour.

1992 – Two Bruce Springsteen albums, “Human Touch” and “Lucky Town,” go on sale simultaneously at midnight.

1998 – An all-star tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s classic album “Rumours” is released. The LP, “Legacy” is produced by Mick Fleetwood and features a different artist performing each of the 11 tracks. Included on the album is Elton John’s version of “Don’t Stop.”
