1964 – Bob Dylan makes his first entry into the U.K. pop chart with “The Times They Are A-Changin’.”

1973 – To combat the multitude of Beatle bootlegs, the group’s label, Capitol, issues “The Beatles /1962-1966” and “The Beatles 1967-1970,” both two-record greatest hits packages. The albums make it to #3 and #1 on the album chart.

1991 – “MTV Unplugged” world premieres a one hour acoustic performance with Paul McCartney. Taped in London, the show is simulcast on the Global Satellite Network.

1993 – Elton John’s “Simple Life,” from his 1992 album “The One,” enters Billboard’s Top Forty. With this charting single, Sir Elton breaks Elvis Presley’s longstanding record with 24 consecutive years of Top Forty hits.
