1967 – The Beatles finish recording “I Am The Walrus” and “The Fool On The Hill”.

1969 – Peter, Paul and Mary hit #1 with “Leaving On A Jet Plane”.

1973 – Carlos Santana, now a disciple of Sri Chinmoy, has a new name: Devadip, which means “The Lamp of the Light Supreme”. The band’s name will remain Santana.

1979 – Moments after beginning the tune, “Better Off Dead,” Elton John collapses onstage at the Universal Amphitheatre. He’s suffering from exhaustion brought on by the flu. After a ten minute intermission, John returns to finish a concert lasting nearly three hours.

1980 – Paul Simon’s “Late in the Evening” peaks at #6 on the singles chart.
