1967 – Folk singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie dies in New York at the age of 55. Guthrie had spent the last decade of his life in the hospital, suffering from Huntington’s disease.

1970 – Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” hits #2 on the singles chart.

1970 – Rod Stewart’s “Gasoline Alley” hits #27 on the LP chart.

1980 – Bruce Springsteen launches his U.S. tour in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He forgets the words to his opening number “Born To Run” and Bob Seger joins him on stage to sing “Thunder Road.”

1981 – Billy Joel’s live album, “Songs In The Attic” enters the album charts.

1981 – Grateful Dead’s “Dead Set” enters the album charts.

1987 – R.E.M.’s “Document” LP enters the chart.

1987 – Pink Floyd’s first album without Roger Waters, “A Momentary Lapse Of Reason,” enters the LP chart.

1988 – The John Lennon documentary “Imagine” premiers in Hollywood.

1989 – David Bowie’s box set “Sound + Vision” is released.

1994 – Eric Clapton kicks off his “Nothing But The Blues” tour in Montreal.

2003 – “The Concert For George” (the film of the George Harrison tribute show) opens.
