1961 – Bob Dylan makes his concert hall debut at New York’s Carnegie Hall. About 50 people attend, mostly friends, and Dylan earns $20 for the gig.

1963 – Eric Clapton is asked to replace Anthony “Top” Topham in the Yardbirds.

1965 – The Beatles\’ \”Yesterday\” hits #1 on the singles chart.

1969 – Crosby, Stills & Nash’s \”Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” is released. Stephen Stills wrote the song about Judy Collins.

1969 – Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Green River” tops the LP chart.

1970 – Janis Joplin is found dead of an apparent heroin overdose in her room at the Landmark Hotel in Hollywood. The 27-year old Joplin had just finished recording her second solo album, “Pearl.”

1973 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young perform together for the first time in two years–unofficially. The concert, held at San Francisco’s Winterland ballroom, is actually a Stephen Stills and Manassas show. However, Graham Nash and David Crosby walk on stage and then later are joined by Neil Young for a 50-minute set.

1974 – John Lennon releases his “Walls And Bridges” LP.

1975 – Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” LP hits #1 on the chart.

1980 – Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac join the USC Trojan Marching Band for a halftime show at a USC football game. As half-time ends, the Trojans are presented with a platinum record for their contribution to the song, “Tusk.”

1981 – CBS Records releases the children’s holiday album, “In Harmony,” which includes Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.”
